Karis had a game on Sat and boy was this one fun! When we got there, a referee for another game came and told us that our referee wouldn't be there so a parent or coach should step in to make the calls. First of all, who needs a ref for the game? Refs are to keep the parents in line! Especially at a 3 year old soccer game. So our coach stepped in as referee since he had a whistle, but the parents of the other team decided they wanted to play 3 year old soccer as well. And since our coach wasn't a real referee who was going to stop them? So the parents of the other team held their kids hands/arms and drug them over to where the ball was, swung them so their feet hit the ball (using them similar to that as a golf club). If one of our kids kicked the ball in a strategic direction, there just 'happened' to be a parent or an older brother or sister in the way to stop the ball. So we lost this one, but our kids still put forth a lot of effort. Karis alone scored two goals! And she tried to play defense which in 3 year old soccer is not really something that gets a whole lot of emphasis because the emphasis is mostly on going toward the correct goal. But we still had fun which is the real goal for this team! Can't wait for next Saturday!
