Welcome to Greece

Today Chris and I spent all day walking up and down the streets of beautiful Rhodes. This island really is beautiful! Since we last updated, we have gotten lost in Rome trying to find our hotel, broken a suitcase while walking on the sidewalk from the train to the port, and this trip couldn’t have been more perfect thus far! We’ve been able to see the Coliseum, Roman Forum, Parthenon, eaten lunch in Piazza Novana and realized a taxi will get you to a destination much faster than reading a map in a language you don’t speak! (We have taken more ‘scenic routes’ than we can count!)

After Rome we went to Naples where we went straight to the train station and on to Pompeii. How wonderful that was. They have done such a fantastic job preserving and uncovering that city it was a dream to be there. Then we went from Pompeii to Sorrento and got on a boat for Capri. Again, very beautiful.

Tomorrow we have a visit to Ephesus planned which should be the highlight of our entire trip from what I’m told. This will be our first tour booked with the ship which includes a guide and a visit to the house of the virgin Mary.

This trip makes us feel like small children and every day we’re at an amusement park wearing ourselves out in the morning and then we go back and take naps in the afternoon just so we can make it through supper at 8:30.

Wish we could download pictures but this computer has vista and I can’t get it to upload since we didn’t bring the disk. We’ll provide photos upon our return home.

Ciao!
