First things first. . . looking at my ticker you'll see we have 11 days until the baby's due. We had an appointment with the midwife today and she listened to baby and measured me and said all is well. I'm measuring at 42 cm, so we're predicting there'll be another large baby. (Karis was 8lb 12 oz and Silas was 8 lb 13 oz, although Silas was about 3 hours old when they weighed him.) With Silas' birth experience they're predicting another quick birth and would like to see if we can have a more 'controlled,' or 'normal' labor with this one. Their suggestion is that we go in on Monday and check everything out, make sure we're all on the same page and at that point we'll be at 39 weeks. On Tuesday morning go back in (if baby hasn't come yet) and break my water there at the birth center to get things moving and to ensure that professionals are at the birth so I don't have the baby on a midnight trip to the grocery store! I'm still weighing the pros and cons of having them break my water, so I'm not sure that's what we'll do yet, however, it does sound so tempting! (For those of you who haven't heard Silas' birth story, I'll publish both of Karis' and Silas' within a few days - the clean versions I promise!)
And below you can see Chris has made progress on the retaining wall. It's been a slow project as he's working on it all by himself, but he's almost got the bottom brick laid all the way across and after that it's just a matter of stacking the bricks up, then filling in the dirt, and maybe plant some plants. The last picture is of the playhouse/climber we bought for the kids today! Putting it up will come after the retaining wall and I'm hoping that I'll get some patio furniture soon after that. . . .
